【摘要】:Tensofthousandsofgraphiccharactersareusedinthepublishingoftext,ofwhichrelativelyfewhavebeenin-corporatedintostandardcodedcharactersets.Evenwherestandardcodedrepresentationsexist,however,theremaybesituationsinwhichtheycannotbekeyboardedconveniently,orinwhichitisnotpossibletodisplaythedesiredvisualdepictionofthecharacters.TohelpovercomethesebarrierstosuccessfulinterchangeofSGMLdocuments,thispartofISO/IECTR9573definescharacterentitysetsforsomeofthewidelyusedspecialgraphiccharacters.TheentityrepertoiresarebasedonapplicablepublishedandproposedInternationalStandardsforcodedcharactersets,andcurrentindustryandprofessionalsocietypractice.NOTE1Entityrepertoiresarenecessarilylargerandmorerepetitiousthancharactersets,astheydealingeneralwithhigher-levelconstructs.Forexample,uniqueentitieshavebeendefinedforeachaccentedLatinalphabeticcharacter,whileacharactersetmightrepresentsuchcharactersascombinationsoflettersanddiacriticalmarkcharacters.Thesepublicentitysetsshouldthereforenotbeconstruedasrequirementsfornewstandardcodedcharactersets.Inmanyinstancesupper-andlower-caseisusedtodifferentiatethenamesofdifferententities.Itisthusassumedthataconcretesyntaxwhereentitynamesarecasesensitiveisused.NOTE2Inthereferenceconcretesyntax,theentitynamesarecasesensitive.
